My Backyard with Al Capper

Storm FM Saturday 11pm - 2am

A journey into the influences that helped cultivate the musical gardens of dance musicians and deejays. Including Perfect Combination, Scissorhicks, Richie Hawtin, The Jeep Beat Collective, LuvDup, live jazz, live freestylers and the imaginative mixing of Capper himself.

Capper's DJ career began in 1991 at WXUT 88.3, just south of Detroit, Michigan. He started Funky Jism promotions a couple of years later with free parties and running "A Cat Called Jism" at various venues.

Along with Jake (now of Jockey Slut) his acclaimed night Es La Reoca ran for one year at the Hacienda. Last year he expanded with "Funky Jism" at The Midland Hotel, Morecambe, but has since withdrawn his association from the event despite it still carrying his trademark.

Other residences have included Hangar 18, In The City FM and The Transcendental Energy Warehouse. He has worked alongside a list of DJs that reads like name-drop central: Dan Curtin, Terry Mullin, Mike Dearbourne, Tall Paul, Jeremy Heally, Coldcut, Luvdup, Perfect Combination, Sid Shanti, Rob Bright, Pete Robinson, DJ EFX and Digit.
